Greetings and welcome to the official website of the 175th house of The Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter (GIL),-- affectionately known as the “Brooklyn-Long Island Alphas.” It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Chapter President for the 2022-2023 fraternal year.

Gamma Iota Lambda consists of over 50 professional and dedicated Brothers who are committed to service and the aims of our dear fraternity: “Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind.”

One of our main goals is to be a positive role model while consistently focusing on the development of our young African-American males. Their success is paramount in today’s society. Through two of our national programs, Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College and Project Alpha, we have been working with young men of color from Brooklyn in our Alpha Academy to prepare them to become our future leaders.

Throughout the Pandemic the Brothers of the Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter continued to provide support within the communities of Brooklyn and Long Island. At our Annual Brother Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service we distribute hot meals, toiletry bags, hats, gloves, socks, and gently used clothing to the men and women, and children residing in Transitional Housing. In conjunction with our Brothers of the Zeta Zeta Lambda Chapter in Queens, NY we also provided toys to the local Child Advocacy Center. 

We have also participated in, and raised funds for the March of Dimes Walk, as well as the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. In the coming year, Gamma Iota Lambda will continue to focus on the physical and mental health of our communities. We will also strive to be a presence in promoting issues surrounding social reform.

In addition to the work we do in the name of Alpha, we also find the time to enjoy the “Spirit Brotherhood.” 

If any Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha, or a member of the general public, would like to volunteer their services to our national programs or community service projects please feel free to contact the chapter, we welcome your assistance.

On behalf of the Brothers of the Gamma Iota Lambda Chapter, I extend an open invitation to all Duly Initiated Brothers of our dear fraternity to attend our monthly chapter meetings, which are held on the second Saturday of each month at 2 pm, location to be determined (September through June).
